Sub Group Evaluation
by Katrin Uhl
Evaluation in the field of democracy-, human rights- and tolerance-education
is a matter of growing importance, especially for practitioners.
Many organizations working in the field see themselves confronted
with the necessity of evaluating their programs, often however,
without having a lot of experience with evaluation methods and instruments.
Bearing
that in mind, the networks subgroup on evaluation set itself
the goal of creating a workshop on evaluation, directed at the specific
needs of practitioners in the field. Based on the ideas collected
during the last network conference, the subgroup met in Munich this
March to further develop the workshop-concept.
The idea behind the concept was to give practitioners in the field
the knowledge and tools to first of all assess their needs in terms
of evaluation and as a second step choose the appropriate methods
and instruments accordingly. Out of this motivation grew the concept
for a one-day workshop, introducing participants to evaluation and
its relevance and implication for the field.
With the help of a series of activities the workshop provides an
overview of and introduction to evaluation methods and tools and
discusses broader questions related to evaluation. The workshop
will be tested in August during the next network meeting. It is
planned to provide an evaluation-resource guide along with the workshop.
