Stephanie
Schell-Faucon

Stephanie Schell-Faucon has served as lecturer and research assistant at the University of Cologne the past three years. She is responsible for teaching and assisting research in the field of adult education. She offers classes on didactics and methodical approaches of adult education and assists the editing of the International Yearbook of Adult Education. Her contributions mainly focussed on adult education in France. Special fields of interest are Intercultural, Peace and Holocaust education.

Prior to her assignment at University, Stephanie Schell worked at a Primary School in N„rtingen. Furthermore she taught German and Physical Education at Middle School and due to her work at Schiller University in Heidelberg she has experience in teaching German as a foreign language.

Since 1987 Stephanie Schell supports different French-German exchange activities and lead several youth programmes. In 1994 she started to work with school classes and young adults in Holocaust Memorials. Since 1997 Stephanie is part of a steering group that initiated a German-South African exchange programme called "Learning from each other".

She is a board member of transfer e.V. This NGO promotes intercutural exchange programmes, youth travelling and eccological tourism. It develops new training concepts and materials. On behalf of that NGO Stephanie recently co-moderated a workshop on gender awareness in intercultural exchanges.

Stephanie Schell, born in1967, holds the German State Degrees as Primary and Middle School Teacher and a Masters Degree in Education. Currently she stays for six month in South Africa, studying towards a doctorate in Science of Education. Her research fellowship, granted by the DAAD, focusses on the impact of Human Rights and Peace Education in ethnopolitical conflict areas.
