Eva Rendle has been an assistant for the project "Education
for Democracy, Human Rights and Tolerance" at the Center for
Applied Policy Research, Munich since May 2001. She is currently
working on her Masters degree in linguistics, political science
and theology at Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich.
Eva Maria Rendle was born in Southern Germany in 1977.
She graduated from High School in 1996. An internship with a newspaper
office introduced her to the professional field of journalism and
motivated her to pursue that career. Keeping that perspective in
mind she, however, decided to first gather some intense experience
abroad. Volunteering for a church organization in Chile gave her
the opportunity to combine charitable work with her interest in
Latin America. The project included six months of work in a childrens
home and six months in a parish. This experience later evoked her
focus on developmental politics in general and Latin American culture
in particular.
Returning to Germany in 1997, she enrolled as an undergraduate
student of linguistics, political science and theology at the University
of Tübingen. During that time she extended her journalistic
practice through further internships and by freelancing for various
newspapers. Additionally, she started teaching classes in German
as a foreign language to refugees, motivated by the idea of providing
them with language skills as a means of integration. She has been
committed to this project until today, now working for the "Verein
Deutsch für Flüchtlinge (= association of German
for refugees) in Munich.
In 1999 Eva Maria Rendle returned to Chile in order to do an internship
with the Chilean human rights organization "CODEPU in
Valdivia, focussing on the reappraisal of dictatorship and its still
actual challenges for the process of democratization. Afterwards,
she enrolled in a graduate program at Ludwig-Maximilians-University
in Munich, continuing her studies in linguistics, political sciences
and theology with an emphasis on social ethics.
Besides her journalistic freelance work, Eva gained insight into
the publishing industry by assisting the edition of "Langenscheidt
dictionaries as a free lector.
In spring 2000 she stayed in Essen for two months having an internship
with the public relations department of "Adveniat, a
church organization supporting Latin American countries.
Since spring 1999 she receives a scholarship from "Cusanuswerk
(the scholarship committee of the German Catholic Church). Eva Rendle
contributes to the "Cusanercorrespondenz, the official
magazine of the "Cusanuswerk as an editor.
In 2001 she participated in an additional study program "Individual
and Academics, which was designed to provide the students
with personal and communication skills.
Eva s professional ambitions shifted from a mere journalistic
emphasis to pursuing a career in the field of politics, particularly
international relations. Accordingly, her master thesis is planned
to deal with the interrelation between linguistics and politics.
