Politeia – Network for Citizenship and Democracy in Europe

Politeia is a Europe-based network for citizenship and democracy and as a virtual organization unites more than 1000 persons and institutions from the field of citizenship and civic education, from the European Union as well as Central and Eastern Europe. Founded in 1995 by the Dutch Instituut voor Publiek en Politiek (IPP), the German Bundeszentrale für politische Bildung (BpB), and the Austrian Ministerium für Unterricht und kulturelle Angelegenheiten (BMUK), the network‘s goal is to promote the social and political participation of the European citizens. Politeia’s internet site offers information about seminars and conferences, a resource center on citizenship and education in Europe as well as a very informative newsletter.
