European Network Against Racism (ENAR)

ENAR, a network of European NGOs working to combat racism in all EU member states, is an outcome of the 1997 European Year Against Racism. With the aims of fighting racism, xenophobia and discrimination as well as promoting equality of treatment of EU and non-EU citizens, the network’s activities rest on three pillars: 1. information exchange, providing information in many languages and trying to link documentation centers across Europe; 2. linking initiatives and networks in an attempt to exchange experiences, promote partnerships and develop and implement new strategies in the fight against racism; 3. lobbying and campaigning – exerting influence on European policy makers, especially, but not exclusively, in the fields of migration and anti-discrimination legislation.
